Various teams from Manipur and Assam will take part in the Kang tournament:
Speaking to the team of the journalists on tour to Bangladesh with the special purpose of tracing our isolated bloodlines in Bangladesh, Nripendra Yumnam, President- of Sylhet Manipuri Kang Association said that they started to organize Kang- a game of our ancestors every year. He added that the association organizes tournament every year to preserve the precious game and carry forward the beautiful game of our ancestors for the generations to come. The association also invests a heavy fund for the de the form of the precious game. The association is working hard to popularize the game of Kang as the most popular sport in Bangladesh.
He furthered that he saw people practicing and playing Kang very enthusiastically in his early childhood. He also remembered the game till sometime after the end of Pakistan-Bangl 1971. The game ceased to operate due to the absence of a play station, or people had no time for the game.
Later the Amorkhana Manipuri Social Welfare Association started organizing the Kang Tournament in 2004. The Sylhet Manipuri Kang Association has also been organizing Kang Tournament for the last three years. The first of its kind was held at Nongmaithem Leikai.
