The Association of Meiteis in the Americas (AMA) has expressed strong support for the proactive measures announced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the recent security review meeting on Manipur. AMA commended the government's commitment to ensuring free movement on national highways, cracking down on extortion, expediting border fencing, and dismantling the drug trade network—all vital steps toward restoring normalcy and stability in the state.
In its statement, AMA called for further decisive action by urging the government to implement a comprehensive disarmament strategy for a gun-free Manipur. "The presence of illegal arms has fueled violence and disrupted harmony, hindering progress. Disarming all armed groups, regardless of affiliation, is essential to rebuild trust and restore law and order," the organization stated.
AMA emphasized that ensuring a peaceful and secure Manipur requires swift and bold measures. "The people of Manipur deserve to live without fear, and a complete disarmament strategy, alongside the initiatives announced, will pave the way for lasting peace and prosperity," the group said, urging all stakeholders to support efforts toward a stable and prosperous Manipur.
In the meantime, Arambai Tenggol has expressed support for the decision made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a meeting held yesterday. Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday directed security forces in Manipur to ensure free movement of people on all roads from March 8. The Minister directed that the fencing work on both sides of the designated entry points along Manipur's international border should be completed at the earliest.
